Greetings and welcome!

We had a close call with the big storm a couple of days ago but there was no significant damage. Lakewood and some places along Hwy 32 were dealing with power outages, but I and sure that the superhero line crews addressed that as fast as they could.

We have some cool events coming up this weekend. The first one is Weinerfest North in Lakewood. That is a fundraiser for a local VFW to help veterans and veteran’s causes.’They have all kinds of military equipment there and Meatski’s hot dogs. They are again featuring the Happy Schnapps Combo, the guys that sing the Deer Camp song. That is a rain or shine event in the Lakewood pavilion.

There is also off-road racing at the new track in Lena.

I don’t know what to make of the forecast. The NWS is calling for a chance of rain Saturday and a better chance Saturday night. One of my models is showing a chance of rain during the day the other is not.

The Peshtigo River is a little above normal for today. It might be a good weekend to do a little tubing or rafting.

Don’t forget about the big Silver Cliff Centennial celebration coming up in two weeks. That is going to be a really big deal. More to follow on that.

That is about it for me today. Have a great weekend and thank you for visiting!

Wednesday 7-28-21 11:50pm All clear- no damage

Greetings and welcome!

11:50pm- The storm is over here. The last wave brought lightning and a little heavy rain but again no damage here. Other parts of the state were not as lucky. There were several tornado warnings. I will know more in the morning and will update if there is any damage in the area.

9:30pm

This is one of those days where I am thrilled to say that I was wrong. The big storm came through with just a little rain and some lightning.

The story is that it stayed very cloudy today. That never gave the sun the chance to start convection and the storm did not develop to anywhere near its potential. A good analogy is a teapot on the stove and the burner never got lit.

There are still some strong storms west of Antigo and over toward Stevens Point and over to the Mississippi River. Most of that is west of Shawano.

There is a line of storms up by Eagle River that developed in the last half hour. Those grew fast and quickly got intense. They are heading this way, so it is too soon to sound the all clear.

So far it has not been much of a storm.

More to follow-

Tuesday 7-27-2021 Storm Update

Greetings and welcome!

We had a couple of lines of significant storms roll through the area yesterday and last night. There was a lot of lightning, some heavy rain and some wind.

Locally there were wind gusts estimated up to 60mph. The earlier storm wasn’t much here but was significant between about Coleman and Peshtigo. The TV had warnings on about 70mph winds and 1″ diameter hail. I am still waiting for the noon news to see more about that.
Here in the Silver Cliff and Twin Bridge area we had a lot of power outages but a look at the local Facebook page showed no reports of damage. I have a couple of small branches down in the yard. The neighbor’s dead oaks that should have been cut down 5 years ago stood up to it well.

I have not been out and about yet but I am not expecting much for damage.

Greetings and welcome!

We have a few events coming up this weekend. Locally there is a car show at the old Caldron Falls Bar Saturday. This used to be the weekend of pig wrestling but the new owners stopped that and replaced it with a big car show. It is still a big event with live music and a burnout pit for the nice cars to show off.

In Crooked Lake there is a brat fry for the Crooked Trails ATV club.

It looks like we could see some showers or storms tonight into Saturday, and after that a weekend in the 80s.

That is about all that I have today. Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
