Greetings and welcome!

We had some big storms roll through the state Monday, but it wasn’t too bad around here. The same storm that painted the radar with a lot of red and severe weather warnings for the southern half of the state hit here too. It mostly brought heavy rain, but we had gusty winds too. The roads had a lot of pine cones, leaves, and small branches, but that was about the extent of the damage that I saw.

Wednesday brought a few more storms, but they were limited to downpours. The atmosphere was juicy with moisture, and clouds were building in a threatening manner all day. About 4:15 the skies opened up and we had a good 30 minute downpour in Wausaukee and Athelstane, but here in Silver Cliff the roads were dry.

There is another chance at some rain later today but it is not expected to be severe.

Once today’s rain clears out we are in for a nice Friday-Sunday stretch, with the only chance of rain showing up in the forecast Sunday afternoon.

All of this rain has been a good thing. It seems like we are always a little dry around here, but I haven’t been talking about fire danger since May. That is certainly a welcome change. It is also a good thing to recharge the aquifers and watersheds after a winter with about half of the normal precipitation.

The rain has been good to the whitewater rivers and it has been a great summer for those that play in them. They are still running a little above normal for both the Peshtigo and Menominee Rivers. With the nice weather it will be another good weekend to take to the water and get some adventure.

This weekend is also the Marinette Co Breakfast on the Farm in Porterfield. Thay have been running ads on the radio and it sounds like a really big affair with hay rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, and all sorts of fun activities. Here is a link.

This week I again saw both fawns that I spotted as newborns about a month ago. They are growing up fast and the wobbly legs were long gone as they bounded away from the car.

We had some northern lights Monday as a major solar storm hit earth. I missed it, but it was a big enough storm that there was a shot at some Tuesday night too.

Well the alarm has gone off and it is time to get up for work. (Time to make the donuts..) My nights have been a little preoccupied as I work on wrapping up a web site for a new 7 bedroom vacation rental home here in Silver Cliff. I expect to be showing that off next week.

That is it from here. Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
