Greetings and welcome!

For what the forecast was the weather turned out pretty good last weekend. We had mostly dry days and a storm at night each night Thurs-Sat. It was hot though. I saw 96 on my car Sunday afternoon. We set all sorts of records for heat in the last week.At the moment on Wed evening it is in the low 70s with a nice rain courtesy of tropical storm Alberto. It looks like the area will see a general 0.5-1.0” of rain. It has heavier and lighter waves but is a nice steady meaningful rain.

That will pretty much guarantee good water in the rivers for rafting and tubing for this coming weekend. The upper reaches of the Peshtigo River watershed got hit pretty good, and it was perfectly timed to hit the whitewater stretch this weekend. I would expect at least a +6” river.

The storm last Thursday night hit the lower Peshtigo River watershed just right and the river shot up about 6” in one day. Weekend paddlers were delighted by a 12”+ river level. People had a blast.

This weekend the weather looks nice. The NWS has us for 74 Saturday and 79 Sunday. I will add a chance of rain late Sunday.

Summer is here and the woods are really starting to fill in. The trillium are still plentiful, but they are starting to get covered up by the other plants and ferns. The hardwoods like oak and maple are filling in their leaves and the understory is getting thick. I used to be able to see 100+ feet into the woods from the road. Now it is maybe 50’.

As nice as spring and early summer have been without them, the bugs are back. I had a few tick and mosquito encounters over the past few days. Bug spray wasn’t needed yet, but I am sure that it is a good idea some places.

That is it for today. Have a good week and thank you for visiting!
