Greetings and welcome!
We have a hot and humid weekend ahead this weekend. You know what to do.. find a lake or beach or of course call Kosir’s for rafting and tubing.
There is expected to be some wind along with our summer days, and eventually a thunderstorm or two. We are looking at 91 degrees today 94 Saturday, and 83 Sunday. With that much heat and humidity a summer afternoon thunderstorm seems likely. The NWS has the chances of that at 50% Saturday night and 60% Sunday. There is nothing organized in the way of storms until late Sunday and Sunday night.
The whitewater rivers are running slightly above normal on both the Peshtigo and Menominee Rivers.
We have kind of a messed up holiday schedule this year with the 4th of July landing on a Wednesday. Crivitz, Townsend, and Gillett are all having parades and fireworks and picnics on the 4th itself. This Saturday the 30th is also the Crooked Lake Sportsman’s Club annual picnic.
Danny asked if Crivitz opened their roads to ATVs yet. I don’t know. There was an effort to get roads opened, but I am not aware of it making it yet. Based on how hard it is to get snowmobile trails through the village I would be surprised. That is a very different effort than the county opening some stretches of county roads.
The Caldron Falls Bar will be re-opening on the 2nd back under the guidance of Steve, and Hog Wrestling is definitely going on. It is July 21st this year. Prior operators Dan & Leslee are moving on to focus on their southern style BBQ catering business. You might see them at one of the boat landings and at the Marinette Co fair.
Right down the road the old Peshtigo River Resort is open as the No Wake Zone. You will find that they like to have bands on the weekends and are often giving away free food like pizza or burgers or tacos.
The clock says to wrap this up so I am off to work. Have a great weekend and thank you for visiting!
