Greetings and welcome!

The snow storm this week was a good heads up that winter is coming. It was a strong storm on a perfect path to nail us with snow. It even had the classic double barrel low pressure area.

Had the ground been frozen and the air a little cooler it would have been a significant storm. The end result was 2-4″ of really wet snow with slush under it. The cold nights behind the storm have frozen it, and the last inch or so of crusty snow and ice remain. Places like roads and my gravel driveway are dry again.

There were a few trees and branches taken down, but not many. As I said before, the high winds of Fall cleared out a lot of the dead stuff.

Driving in it Wednesday night on a back road I got into the slush a little. The front tires started throwing it forward, and I’d drive into it, blasting the windshield. That is some sticky slushy snow. Now the melt from it freezing overnight has brought the first icy steps.

Most of it will go away this weekend. Tomorrow looks sunny and 45-50. Sunday brings clouds, 10-15mph winds, and a 40% chance of rain. The NWS is looking for a low of 25-30 tonight and 40 Saturday night.

I looked ahead to opening weekend of deer hunting on the GFS model that goes out 16 days. It is showing a big storm going over MN that Thursday and Friday, and us maybe getting a little Saturday. Sunday looks nice, but it might be cool and windy behind the storm. The second weekend looks clear and warmer than normal. At 8-15 days out the forecast is mostly a novelty, but inquiring minds want to know.

I don’t have any events for this weekend, but next week I will bring on the updated list of deer hunting specials and activities.

That is about it from here. Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
