Greetings and welcome!
The end is near!
The end of summer that is.. Last night we got down to 39 degrees. Today is a cool one too with a high of only 70 so far. Between the cooler temperatures and some of the leaves starting to change color the signs are there that summer is just about finished.
We had a weather system drag a frontal boundary back and forth across the state this week. It left a disaster in a lot of areas downstate but we dodged the worst of it. We did not see any severe stuff at all. We had a couple of good lightning shows and 2.5″ of rain for the week. It is about as good as it gets, we got the much needed rain but no severe weather.
The rain made the fire danger go down to normal levels and it brought area rivers back up into the fun zone. Whitewater rafting and lazy river tubing are good choices this weekend.
I have a couple of events for this weekend and I am sure that there are more. The first up is The Wall That Heals visiting in Crivitz. That is a 3/4 scale replica of the Vietnam memorial in Washington DC. There are activities, music, and all sorts of interactive stuff going on with that.
The other event that I have on m list is the Red Arrow (Townsend) Snowmobile & ATV Club..
Red Arrow 12th Annual Corn Roast – September 1st
ATV/UTV parade will be leaving the Clubhouse at 10:30 AM (16712 Hummingbird Hill Ln, Townsend, WI) to ride to the event held at Old Town Hall Bar and Restaurant.
FREE corn, spin-raffle, food, and beverages…all starting at 11:00 AM. Lots of FUN for the entire family.
Big Raffle drawing at 6:00 PM
So grab a friend, two, or a few….stop on by the Corn Roast and enjoy a day full of fun!
Both the memorial wall and the corn roast are big events.
There are a couple of chances for rain this weekend, but nothing that would stop my plans. It is hard to pin down this far out but it looks like the focus of the rain will be Friday night and Sunday night.
That is it for me today. Have a great weekend and thank you for visiting!
