Greetings and welcome!
We have an unusually cool cloudy day today. Instead of our normal high of about 80, we are a very comfortable 70 degrees this afternoon. There is a good overcast and some rain showers scattered in the area. So far I have only had a few drops on the windshield.
The 70 and cloudy day has me thinking that I should push my mountain of inside work back 6 hours and tackle outside work while it is so nice out. It is a prefect day for cutting grass, weeds, firewood, working on cars and lawnmowers or other outside chores.
The devil on the left shoulder thinks that I should go fishing instead. With unsettled weather and a full moon it certainly is a prime day for it.
As I was riding home from my early afternoon appointment wondering what I should write about today the obvious answer was the wildflowers. The fields and roadsides are alive with color right now. The new player is the black centered daisies, but there are a lot more different plants in bloom.
The weather outlook for the weekend is pretty typical of summer. Friday and Saturday should be in the 80-85 range, and Sunday in the low 90s. There will be some humidity around to make the heat more effective. Rain chances peak Friday night at 50%, with today and Saturday at 40% and Friday at 30%.
The rain doesn’t look like anything organized, it is typical summer showers that go along with the heat and humidity.
Next week looks hot and juicy. The forecast holds a lot of humidity and days in the low or mid-90s. That is the product of a clockwise flow from a huge high pressure system. As it approached it gave us great days in the 70s this week as it brought the weather out of the north. Next week as it passes and the warm humid air comes up from the south, we get more summer like weather.
I have not encountered any new events since the last update, but I will give you a heads up that Hog Wrestle 2011 is coming up at the Caldron Falls Bar July 23. That is not this Saturday, but the one after.
I was there last week and they had a few new beers on tap. They have always been a good stop for us premium beer lovers. Now they have Nitro Stout, Stella, Spotted Cow, and Blue Moon on tap in addition to the six more domestic offerings.
A hot weekend is a good time to get wet. At Kosir’s this week the infamous Totally Tubular Jay has been busy shuttling tubers riding down the calm stretch of the Peshtigo River. It has become very popular.
The Peshtigo River is at -1.5 according to the morning update, which is a little rocky but runnable. The Menominee is a better choice for rafting with it’s dam controlled flows running much higher.
That is about it for today. Have a good weekend and thank you for visiting!
